Guard Rails Applications

They are also installed on bridges, ramps, and other structures to provide a barrier between vehicles and pedestrians. These rails can be constructed using  wood, steel, and concrete, depending on the environment they are placed in. Properly installed guard rails can save lives by reducing the impact of collisions and keeping vehicles within their designated lanes. Guard rails can help to increase driver confidence and awareness by providing a clear visual delineation of the edge of the road or bridge. As a result, rails are an important component of road safety infrastructure that should be maintained to ensure optimal performance.

Guard Rails can be split into three basic components namely;

  • the base, used to fix the Guard rails to the ground
  • the post which is used as a linking mechanism and finally, the steel beam.

The system most commonly used on SA roads are the steel W beam guard rail. This installation comprises of wooden posts “fixed” into the soil with steel W beams attached.

Our Guard Rails can be used to steer a vehicle back into the road or slow it down until it stops completely. In many cases it can also be beneficial to slow down the vehicle so that it can pass the rails. mostly, hitting a guard rails is safer for the driver than hitting something like a tree or utility pol. These Rails are also beneficial for installation in industrial warehouses or  premises. It’s advisable to have a guide rails installed of the repercussions of hitting the barrier are less than hitting what is beyond the rail.
